The Committee of To and By the Aging (TABA) was formed in April 1992 to promote ministry to older
people. It was instigated by the late Deaconess Mary Andrews AM, following a Report from the Sydney
Anglican Synod in 1989.
TABA aims to:
- encourage parishes to become aware of the possibilities in working with the ageing and involving the ageing in ministry;
- provide a forum for existing parish groups working with the ageing to meet and provide support and encouragement for each other;
- provide resource ideas for the leaders of parish groups working with the ageing.
TABA’s primary work involves training people in senior’s ministry across the Sydney Diocese. In 2009 there will be several events to encourage evangelism, discipleship, and life skills amongst seniors, the aged and the frail aged.
