Since 1891, The Church of England Deaconess Institution has been training women for ministry. In 1916 this moved to 28 Carillon Ave Newtown and became known as Deaconess House until 1997 when the College changed its name to Mary Andrews College in honour of the life and ministry of Mary Andrews.

From 1991, Mary Andrews College has offered Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses and is affiliated with the Australian College of Theology.

Under the leadership of the Director of Studies, Rev. Jackie Stoneman, the Faculty of Mary Andrews College devote themselves to the ministry of equipping women to serve Christ in the church and community in many roles.  This includes evangelists, pastors, teachers, chaplains, missionaries, parish lay workers, scripture teachers and bible study group leaders.
